8 March 2010
Olive reckons when she checks our web site it’s like we’ve gone into hibernation and nothing happens between festivals, so we are making amends and doing a bit of a catchup over what the club has been up to since the last Festival in 2009 and will continue keeping everyone up to date with club happenings.
The catch - up will be gradual so Watch this Space for photo's and more news. Time for a wee siesta. zzzz

5 - 8 March 2010
An invite from the Rotorua Linedancing Club saw 19 of us in Rotorua for a fundraising weekend.
We arrived late Friday afternoon 5th March, after a warm welcome from our hosts we shared a delicious pot luck dinner, Robbie and the boys set the gear up for a jam session. Our drummer Mike Vryer and bass player Judy Daniels couldn't make the trip so with local drummer Noah and club member Jack's son in law, Solomon on bass guitar for the weekend, the band played , our singers belted out some tunes and we had a great evening.
Saturday morning we all headed off to play at the Rotorua RSA for the day. Not a huge crowd but those that were there enjoyed it. Later that evening, while most of us had an early night, a few of our group went back to the RSA to check out the band and the band rocked. Isie, Char, Lyn and Jack danced their cowboy boots off.
Sunday and it was down to the Rotorua RSA this time to help fundraise for the Rotorua Line Dancers. What a day!!!!
The Rotorua Linedancers were busy with their raffles as our club entertained throughout the day.
Ray Solomon and Dennis August two local and well known country music entertainers sang a few songs to a mesmerised audience. As for our own Hokianga Country Music Club band, full credit to Robbie Perry on rhythm, Ted Viscovich on lead guitar, Noah on drums and Solomon on bass, for playing tirelessly from Friday night to Sunday evening, so many singers and as many songs. Thank you guys.
And of course our singers whose performances bordered on stellar, Wow, good job everyone. Thankyou Isie our MC who keeps the show going.
Monday morning time for goodbyes and looking forward to being home. Thanks to Rotorua Linedancers and Apumoana Marae for their gracious hospitality and a wonderful weekend..
Olive we are all so pleased that you came.

2nd, 3rd & 4th October 2009
This year the Hokianga Country Music Festival wowed and yee haa'd the crowds that stampeded into Hokianga country over the three days. Robbie, Olive and their trusty team planned from the onset to celebrate 10 years of the Hokianga Country Music Festival and Country Music Club with everyone. Festival street flags waved around every venue, Birthday cakes were shared with the crowds, linedances stepping at every opportunity, best of all good old country music captured audiences every where they went. Opononi, Omapere, Rawene, Kohukohu and Opononi Hall offered awesome music all weekend , country music fest. Yes iree!
My impression of the festival AWESOME.
The musicians and singers I was privileged to hear were awesome. I heard a lot of songs that made me cry, laugh or just dream. The Festival T Shirts were popular and striking and I saw many being worn over the weekend and even since.
It was wonderful seeing old friends and making lots of new ones. Hope to see y’all in September.
